Uses for Wine? Why would you want to find ways to use wine other than drink it? Well, have you ever had a little bit of wine left in your bottle and didn’t know what to do with it and don’t want to throw it out? Or has someone has given you a bottle of wine, but you don’t drink wine, or you don’t like the wine they gave you? Or maybe you just want to know what else you can do with the wine that you enjoy drinking? You have found the right place.
Here we will give you ideas, some interesting and some fun and some more traditional ideas for uses for wine.
Ice cubes
This idea is an simple idea. Pour your leftover wine into an ice cube tray and freeze it. Why? This makes it easy to use single serving cubes you can add to sauces, stews, and soups. Make a slushy or even add them to your wine (wine ice cubes will not water down your wine because it is wine)? Add fruit, mint, sprinkles to these ice cubes or different shaped ice cube trays to make them a little fancier for your drink or occasion.
Please note that freezing does change the taste of the wine, so you may want to give it a try and make sure the taste of your wine does not change too much.
Mask
Red wine has some excellent properties in it that are good for you. You do not have to drink it to get the benefits from it. Use it as a facial!
This is a fun use for wine and has wonderful benefits for your skin.
Try this mask. Take one egg white and then add 1 Tablespoon honey (of course local and/or organic is best but whatever you have on hand works) and add 3 Tablespoons of Red Wine. Mix, gently, till it is nice a smooth.
Wash your face. With clean fingers, apply the mixture to your face and neck. Apply it liberally but avoid your mouth and eyes. It does not keep so throw away what is left.
Turn on some music, listen to a book, or enjoy the silence while you lay back and let it soak in for 15 minutes. Then use warm water to wash it off.
Here is another wine mask.
To 1 cup of yogurt, add 1 Tablespoon of honey and 4 Tablespoons of Wine, add another tablespoon of wine if needed. Whisk the ingredients together.
Before you apply the mask you will want to steam your face first for about 5 minutes to get the pores open. You can steam it by using a hot towel or put the towel over your head and a bowl of hot water, so the steam goes up to your face or use your face steamer if you have one.
With clean hands, use fingertips to apply the mask to face, avoid mouth and eyes. Use as much as you would like, but if you have left, make sure to throw it away.
Leave the mask on face for 5 – 7 minutes then wash it off with warm water. Here is a tip: white wine is best for dry skin, and red wine is best for oily skin. Try a mask with each and see which works best for you and your skin.
Facials
All you need for this first facial is a cotton ball and red wine. Dip the cotton ball in the wine and apply it to your face. Leave it on your face for 20 minutes and then wash off. This is great for acne-prone skin.
This wine facial is great for beautiful skin. Apply red wine to the skin of your face and gently massage for 10 minutes. Leave wine on for another 10 minutes then wash face with warm water.
How about a facial to get rid of dead skin? Use two tablespoons of oatmeal and mix in enough wine to the consistency you like. Gently massage the wine and oatmeal mixture to face and then wash face with warm water. Use this as a body scrub also
Body Scrub
Use the oatmeal facial above for a body scrub, but here is another body scrub.
First, melt a tablespoon of coconut oil on low heat. In a big bowl, you are going to mix about 1 to 1 1/2 cup of coarser sugar like turbinado or coconut sugar, but if you don’t have any on hand, use regular sugar. Pour in a tablespoon of honey, melted coconut oil, and 1/4 cup of red wine. If the mixture is not stiff enough, add more sugar. Some prefer their scrubs thicker, and some prefer them thinner, so mix to the consistency that you prefer.
You will want to store in an airtight container; a canning jar works great. If you have kids or afraid of dropping it, you might want to use a plastic jar.
Now take a shower or bath and gently scrub your body. Do not scrub too hard.
A word of caution: With coconut oil in this body scrub, be careful, it can become slick.
Hair rinse
Use Red Wine for your final rinse after shampooing and conditioning your hair you may see these benefits.
Thicker hair
Shinier hair
Less dandruff
Less hair loss
