Whether it is Christmas, Valentine’s, a birthday, an anniversary, or just a special “thinking of you” gift why not make homemade gifts? We have found some handmade gift ideas for you and give you the link to help you find the directions. Homemade gifts are always special!!
Fabric Covered Ornaments
Why not fill your tree this year with fabric-covered ornaments? This does not just work for Christmas but can work for any holiday. Buy cardboard ornaments at any craft store or cut some yourself from your home cardboard (thicker is better but hard to cut). Use leftover material at home or find some at a material shop. Cut the material to fit your ornaments and glue it on – if you have cut your own ornament, don’t forget the hole for the string. Then, use some string or yarn to hang it on the tree. Need some extra help to search the internet for instructions and pictures.
Change for each holiday, even make a special ornament for a birthday gift or new baby.
Another cloth-covered ornament is a fabric-covered ball. There are several ways of doing this. One way is to cut the fabric big enough to pull it together and tie it with a ribbon. The other way is to cut the fabric into strips and then glue each piece on the foam ball. Again need help creating this masterpiece you can find more help by doing a quick search on the internet.
Use different colors for different holidays, and even use a ball of potpourri or cedar chips to hang in the closet or any place that offers a little extra refreshing.
Another twist is to wrap a wool ball to make it look decorative and then use it for an essential oil diffuser.
Homemade Snowglobes
Do you have some empty jars with lids that you need to use for something? Why not a snow globe? Use an empty jar, waterproof objects, and glitter, and make your own snow globe. Epoxy your object to the lid of your jar and let it dry. Then, fill the jar with distilled water, leaving a little room to add 1 tablespoon of liquid glycerin (this will thicken the water). Add some glitter. Carefully put the lid on the jar and turn the turn over so it sits on the lid. This is a great way to reuse your jars and some small toys.
Memo holders
With a drill, paint (if you want), toy animals (plastic or wood), a stick, and a clip, you could make some memo holders. Use your own creativity and come up with some super cute memo holders.
Chocolate-covered Covered Coffee Stirrers
How about collecting some vintage teaspoons (you could use wooden spoons too if you like), washing them up, melting some chocolate, dipping the spoons in the chocolate, then dipping them into crushed peppermints, nuts, sprinkles, or whatever you Then wrap them in plastic wrap or a candy bag, use some ribbon to make them look fancy and give them as gifts? This is a great idea not just for Christmas but for any celebration. And once the chocolate is all used up, you have a nice spoon left over as a keepsake.
